Electromagnetic Field Measurements for Businesses
Royal Decree 299/2016, of July 22, on the protection of the health and safety of workers against risks related to exposure to electromagnetic fields, regulates the provisions aimed at preventing or reducing risks and includes the obligation for companies to draw up and implement an action plan that must include technical and/or organizational measures designed to prevent exposure to electromagnetic fields from exceeding limit values.
It also establishes the obligation for employers to carry out an assessment and, if necessary, measurements or calculations of the levels of electromagnetic fields to which workers are exposed.
Without prejudice to the obligations established in Article 16 of Law 31/1995 of November 8 on Occupational Risk Prevention, and Chapter II, Section I, of Royal Decree 39/1997 of January 17, which approves the Regulation on Prevention Services and addresses the case of workers who may be exposed to electromagnetic fields, employers must assess the risks arising from electromagnetic fields in the workplace so that the necessary measures to reduce the risks can be defined and implemented.
To help employers comply with their corporate obligations, REM Ingeniería measures electromagnetic fields at the requested workstations and prepares a report with the results obtained, indicating those cases in which protective measures should be taken.
